Hotels won't shell out for turtles - Bradenton Herald

With a depressed housing market and an economic downturn cutting deeply into government income, hotel taxes so far have remained a bright spot on the revenue front. They're up about 4 percent this year in both Broward and Miami-Dade, with collections totaling nearly $115 million in 2007.
The diverging trend lines are reviving a long-standing debate over how best to spend taxes tacked on to hotel bills across South Florida.

Yet, thirteen is what Colorado Springs used to defeat the 51s Thursday night at Security Service Field, as the Sky Sox rolled to a 13-0 victory in front of 2,961 fans.
